Born Again

Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. John 3:3

In John 3:3, John wrote about the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a leader of The Jews. He witnessed a miracle that Jesus has done, and he heard Jesus preach. He believed that Jesus was a teacher sent by God. Nicodemus waited for the night time to meet and have a conversation with Jesus so that other people wouldn’t find out his identity as one of the disciples.

As they conversated, Jesus mentioned that one must be “born again” as a requirement to be able to see the Kingdom of God.  Nicodemus got confused by the term “born again” because of his logical thinking.

There are important aspects of the term “born again” we must understand. The first is the grace through the Holy Spirit. In the conversation with Nicodemus, Jesus affirmed that everyone needs The Saviour (Jesus)! One’s positions, deeds, obedience to the law (Torah) cannot lead to the Kingdom of God. The term “born again” is a process, which is a gift of salvation through the Holy Spirit when someone believes Jesus as the Lord and Savior.

The second, one becomes a new creation. In the beginning, God created humans according to His image. God gave humans authority and credential to fill the earth and to conquer it, Genesis 1:28. Sadly, Adam and Eve committed sin, humans were separated from God, lived under curse and bondage, and lost the glory of God. Human efforts to get back with God failed. Praise God, through the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross and the work of the Holy Spirit, we become a new creation, “born again”. We have been restored according to His image as we were created in the beginning.

The third, our rebirth enables us to experience wonders like never before. All of God’s promises are revealed in our lives, such as; freedom, abundance, becoming children of God, becoming heirs of God’s kingdom, everlasting life, victory, and breakthrough. All of these things can happen only after we have been “born again”. God bless you.
