TRAINED IN WORDS

Daily Reading: Matthew 12:35-37.

Key Verse: Matthew 12:37: For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”

Many times, children of God only focus on actionable sins but do not care about sins that are caused by the mouth. James 1:26 says – If anyone among you[b] thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one’s religion is useless. The two verses above stated the consequences that can happen if bad words come out of someone’s mouth. That is why we need to remember that we should not say words that are idle, prideful, full of lies, contains gossip, and negative. Matthew 12:36 says – But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of the judgment. There’s a saying that “Silent is Golden,” and the meaning of this is it is better for you to be quiet rather than committing a sin because of your word. We need to train our tongue so that only good, righteous, and pleasing words come out of our mouth. If we do this, we can be a blessing to others.

Good words will be like honey but bad words will bring punishment.
