HUMBLE OURSELVES

Daily Verses: Philippians 2:1-11

Key Verse: Philippians 2:3: “Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.”

Someone who is humble has the following characteristics: 1) can value others better than themselves; 2) will not think that they are smarter, kinder, taller, and more glorified than others; 3) can appreciate others genuinely. The opposite of humility is boastfulness. The Lord Jesus showed tremendous humility when He was in this world. He was criticized, chastised, and judged but He never got angry and had the desire to take revenge. On the other hand, He humbled Himself and stayed obedient until He died on the cross. This was the reason why the Father in heaven exalted the Lord Jesus and gave Him the name, which is above all names (Philippians 2:8-9). As God’s children, we have to follow the humility that the Lord Jesus demonstrated. The Lord’s promise for those who are humble is written in Proverbs 22:4 – “By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches and honor and life.” Unity can only happen among people who are humble. Let us build a good community that loves to respect others, put others first, be happy if a member is happy, and be sad if a member is sad.

Pride is a tool that the devil will use to destroy a person’s life. On the other hand, someone who is humble is loved by God.
