DO NOT LEAVE HIS PRESENCE

Daily Verses: 1 Chronicles 16 : 1-6, 17 : 11-15

Key Verse: 1 Chronicles 16 : 1 : So they brought the ark of God, and set it in the midst of the tabernacle that David had erected for it. Then they offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before God.

In the times when Eli the High Priest served as a judge for the nation of Israel, the Ark of God was stolen by the Philistines because the Ark was not taken care of very well. The Ark of God represented the presence of the Lord. However, Eli the High Priest did not honor the presence of the Lord and was not even concerned about God’s presence so that the Lord allowed the Philistines to steal the Ark of God. After being in their hands for 7 months, the Philistines suffered calamity after calamity. In the end, they returned the Ark of God to Kirjath Jearim. For 20 years, the Ark of God remained there and was not one person who cared for it, including King Saul who later ruled Israel. The consequence of Israel’s disrespect for the presence of the Lord was that they would have to live on in misery. It wasn’t until David became King that the Ark of God was moved to Jerusalem and was lifted high. Because David honored the presence of the Lord so much and always depended on His presence, God was made pleased and blessed Israel throughout David’s lifetime and even into the lifetime of David’s son, Solomon. Not only that, but the Lord also promised David that Solomon would later build a temple where the Ark of God would be guarded.

Do not leave the presence of the Lord. Always remain in His presence that we may receive the Lord’s presence, guidance, and blessings.
