Daily Verses : Philippians 2 : 1 – 18
Key Verse : Philippians 2 : 8 : And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death — even death on a cross!
The Apostle Paul reminds us that as children of the light, the way that we can let our lights shine in the midst of this dark world is by the way we unite with other children of God. How can we become united? When we begin to think about the importance of others rather than our own selfish desires (verse 4), when we humble ourselves before others (just as Jesus humbled himself by becoming obedient to death, verses 6-8), and when we avoid grumbling and arguing with one another (verse 14), then unity can occur in the midst of God’s children. Sacrifice is necessary in order for us to carry this out; however, believe that the Lord will bless us extraordinarily if we are willing to do this thing. The Word of God says that whatever we sow we will also reap. If we sow kindness to those around us, then our lives will be satisfied by the Lord with His love and blessings. Let us do our part because we love God – then the spirit of unity will come down in the midst of His church and we will be a light for this world.
Love your neighbor as you love yourself, that the Lord’s love be poured out abundantly over us
