Daily Verses: 1 Kings 18:20-46
Key Verse: 1 Kings 18:38: ”Then the fire of the LORD fell and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood and the stones and the dust, and it licked up the water that was in the trench.”
When Elijah was in Mount Carmel, he showed the Israelites that the God of this nation was the God who answers prayers. The prophets of Baal prayed to their gods for the fire to come down from the sky, but nothing happened. Elijah only prayed once to the Lord for the fire to come down to burn the sacrifice and the Lord immediately answered his prayer. Elijah bravely challenged Baal because he was sure the Lord he believes in is able to do the impossible. Elijah’s strong faith was shown through his act of faith: wetting the bull for the sacrifice with water, praying and asking the Lord to burn the offering. His act of faith moved the Lord’s heart to take action. From this story, we can see that the Lord pleasingly answers prayers that are bold and full of faith. We must believe that God always wants to answer our prayers and is willing to give the best for our lives. Never be discouraged and never stop praying until the Lord answers our prayers.
Prayer and act of faith will result in answered prayers.
