“Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the Lord your God will set you high above all nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God.” (Deuteronomy 28:1-2)
This life is filled with choices. We are faced to make choices everyday. There is an interesting statement that says: Between capital ‘B’ and ‘D’ there is ‘C’, this means between Birth and Death, there is Choice. And do you know that the choice we make today will determine what we will get in the future? Therefore, be careful with the choices you make. Every choice we make has its own consequences – positive or negative, good or bad.
The Bible tells us that the Lord provides all good things. Every good thing comes from the Lord, James 1:17. This means God’s part is to provide blessings, grace, salvation, a happy life, success, miracles and etc. But, the choices we make will determine whether or not we will receive all of those things. For example, to have a blessed life or not – we can assure this through the choice we make today. Deuteronomy 28 writes two chapters titled ‘Blessings’ and ‘Curses,’ we have to choose one. And if we read the verses, we determine the choice between the two. In Deuteronomy 28:1-2, we see two key words: ‘hear’ and ‘do.’ We need to understand that these two words mean ‘OBEY.’ When we are obedient, blessings will come after us. Obedience is a choice we have to make.
John 14:15: “If you love me, keep My commandments.” Choosing to obey the Lord and His commandments is the correct decision when we wonder about our future. Obedience is a fruit of our love to the Lord.
Sometimes spiritual warfare happens when we are making the right decision. Sometimes God’s miracle and help do not come immediately after we make the right decision; often times it seems like the situation is getting worse. But, don’t ever give up because when our decision is correct, at the end we will see blessings and victory. Don’t lose heart so that when it is time to harvest, we are able to do it. Galatians 6:9.
