2 Corinthians 2:15: “For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing. “
As citizens of the Kingdom of God, we are obligated to be the ones to bring sweet fragrance to God. Bringing fragrance to God means that others get to know the Lord Jesus through what is done and said in our life.
Apostle Paul is an example of a follower of the Lord Jesus who brought a pleasing aroma to the name of Jesus. Before getting to know the Lord Jesus, everything Paul did brought fragrance only for himself and the Roman Empire, but not for God. That was why Paul quickly gained sympathy from the leaders and the Jews. However, after getting to know the Lord, whatever Paul did was solely to bring fragrance to God’s name. Though his actions and words, the Apostle Paul always carried the name of the Lord Jesus wherever he went. He faced many challenges and often felt like “like an egg at the tip of a horn”. But he didn’t surrender or retreat, nor was he afraid because his sole mission was to bring fragrance to God’s name.
As God’s children have we brought fragrance to God’s name? Do our words and deeds embody the gospel of Christ before our fellow humans? The world and the people around us, both those who believe in Jesus and those who have not believed, will always judge our lives. Many people do not want to believe in Jesus because they see the lives of God’s children as stumbling blocks. But blessed is the person who can be the light of Christ and is filled with the fragrance of God so that many souls are brought to God through his life.
Of course, it is not easy to always carry the fragrance to God’s name. Apostle Paul himself acknowledges this 2 Corinthians 3: 5: “Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God.” We cannot consider something we did as if it were our own work, but our ability is the work of God. It’s clear that in order to always have a life that brings fragrance to God’s name, we must ask for help from God. Allow the Holy Spirit to lead our lives every day so that whatever we say and do, is in accordance with God’s will. When we make mistakes and fall into sin, the Holy Spirit will rebuke all evil, so we can quickly repent and not repeat it again. The Holy Spirit who leads our lives will purify our hearts, minds, and deeds so that our lives can become a reflection of Christ.
Let us take part in the harvest of souls in this end times by being a person who brings fragrance to the name of God. God bless.
