Always Bear Fruits

Psalm 52:10: “But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God; I trust in the mercy of God forever and ever.

An olive tree is a great tree. In the Bible, olive tree is often used to symbolize blessing, strength and peace.

What kinds of qualities do olive trees have that differentiate them from other trees? First, olive trees are always green throughout the year, no matter what the season is. This shows that its condition is not determined by seasons, but by the root and all the nutrients it has. These things enable them to keep growing and bear fruits throughout the year.

Second, the branch of an olive tree is often used to symbolize peace. When Noah released the dove to find out if the flood had gone down, it returned with a fresh olive leaf. This symbolizes that God’s wrath upon the sinful world had also gone down as the flood, and He offered peace to the people by starting a new beginning.

Third, olive trees produce a lot of oil. One olive tree can produce 20 gallons of oil. Olive oil has many functions. In the Old Testament, olive oil is used to light a lamp, Exodus 27:20. It is used for culinary – it can be eaten with bread, made into salad dressing, used for cooking oil and a mixture for various cooking. It is also used as a mixture for beauty and health products. The green olive leaf can be used as medicine to treat various infections. The Church also uses olive oil as anointing oil.

In the Psalm he wrote, King David illustrates himself as a green olive tree in the house of the Lord. God wants the lives of believers to be like olive trees that never stop bearing fruits and have green leaves in every season. This means that our lives should not be affected by problems, conditions and situations that happen to us or to our surroundings. God wants us to be a blessing, bring peace and become a light to others.

Let us always pray so that our lives may be like an olive tree that is planted in the house of the Lord, bearing fruits of life for His glory. Let us continue to be a blessing for those around us and be a light for this dark world. God bless.
