ZERUBBABEL

Daily Verses: Haggai 2 : 1 – 19

Key Verse: Haggai 2 : 4 : Yet now be strong, Zerubbabel,’ says the Lord; ‘and be strong, Joshua, son of Jehozadak, the high priest; and be strong, all you people of the land,’ says the Lord, ‘and work; for I am with you,’ says the Lord of hosts.

After the nation of Israel returned from their exile in Babylon, the Lord reminded them to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem and the temple of God. At that time, the Lord commanded Zerubbabel to lead the nation of Israel in rebuilding the temple of God in Jerusalem. The Lord’s message to Zerubbabel was for him and the whole nation of Israel to work hard so that the rebuilding of the holy temple could be carried out successfully. The Lord promised them that His Holy Spirit would remain in their midst (verse 5) and would enable them to complete their work. The Lord would also send the riches of many nations to help fund the rebuilding of the temple of God. From this story we know that the visitation of the Lord can occur if we fulfill God’s calling for us in our lives and if we truly begin to work at it. If the Lord trusts His work to be carried out in our lives, then let us carry it out joyfully and enthusiastically so that the Lord’s visitation will be carried out in our lives in His time.

Work selflessly until the Lord visits you.
