FAITH AND ACTION

I READ: James 2:14-26

The story of the widow of Zarephath is an example of faith that was followed with action. God ordered prophet Elijah to visit the widow.  Once arrived Elijah asked her to make bread, however she only had a handful of flour and a little bit of oil.  Elijah said to the widow that the flour in the jar will never run out and the oil in its bulb will not decrease and she believed. The widow took an act of faith, by making bread for Elijah, for herself and her child.  Through her action she was able to preserve because the flour and the oil will never run out, although she continuously used them. Often we say we have faith, but our action shows otherwise, therefore miracle can’t take place in our lives.

I DECLARE: James 2:26 – For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

I DO: What action am I going to take after meditating on the Word of God?

I PRAY: Pray as guided by the Holy Spirit.
