Daily Verses: Matthew 25
Key Verse: Matthew 25 : 13 : “Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.”
The parable of the 10 virgins in Matthew 25 talks about the church or the gathering of God’s children. There were 5 God’s children who are wise and another 5 who are foolish. Why are they called the foolish virgins? It is because they allowed the time when God visited them to just pass like that. The 10 virgins were waiting for the bridegroom, Jesus, to pay a visit to their lives. However only 5 of the virgins were able to attend the wedding feast or in other words experienced God’s visitation. What caused them to be able to experience God’s visitation? At the time, the 5 wise virgins had their oil and lamp ready. The lamp symbolizes the Word of God (Psalm 119:105) and the oil symbolizes the anointing of the Holy Spirit (Exodus 29:7). While we’re waiting for God’s visitation, we need to trust His Word and declare His Word often. In addition, we also need to be constantly anointed and filled with the Holy Spirit. We need to leave our fleshly desire, temptation, and sanctify ourselves in order to experience God’s visitation. God’s visitation will come suddenly and we have to be ready for it.
Do not forget to bring the lamp and oil wherever you go until God pays a visit to us.
