Respect And Love The Presence Of God

Hebrew 12:28:  “Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear”.

Presence of God is identical with the Lord Jesus himself. As people who believe in God, surely we respect and love the presence of God. Like a child who has always longed to meet her father and felt missed if not met a single day, so any of us who love the Lord Jesus will always miss if not met Jesus just one day through our daily devotion (quiet time). Daily devotion is not a necessity/obligation, but is done for the love and missed to meet the Lord.

David was the only king of Israel who was passionate about the presence of God. Pleasing God is a priority of his life. Because he’s so in love with God, then 7 times a day he would come to the Lord in prayer and worship. If his devotion time comes, he will abandon his work as King and to appear before the Lord. In addition to love God, King David also had great respect for the Lord. One of his respects for God demonstrated by his actions to move the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem, and provide costly materials to build a temple where the Ark of the Covenant was placed. David’s respect and love for God and His presence made him referred to God as a man after My own heart (Indonesian bible called the friend of God). David’s respect and love for God makes God blessed David with abundant wealth, good health, the position of the highest in Israel, and the other best thing.

Of course, as believers, we are also willing to accept what David received in his life. Let us learn to be more loving of presence of God. We have to change the habits that put other things first in life to put God first. Let us always make Jesus the center of our lives (Jesus be the center of our life). We provide time daily for personal fellowship with God because routine personal fellowship will make us more to love and to know God, and know more about the rules and promises of God. There is a term “not know then not love”. So if we want to get to know and love God, we need to spend more time with God.

Besides loving the presence of God, we also honor the presence of God. Respect for God’s presence is identical to the honor of God himself. We can meet the Lord in daily devotion, worship service, L.I.G.H.T meetings, ministry etc. Is in all those gatherings we have shown respect to God? If we want to meet someone important, we will prepare ourselves well and on time, all the more so for the Lord, who is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. It is appropriate we provide the best attitude and respect than we give to humans.

Let us continue to grow in love and respect to God that one day God may call us as “a man after My own heart”. God bless you.
