Holy Spirit and The Next Generation

“And it shall come to pass afterward that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions. And also on My menservants and on My maidservants, I will pour out My Spirit in those days.Joel 2:28-29.

The great work of the Lord will be revealed when there are people who respond to His calling. God certainly can work and finish His work without anyone’s involvement. However, we see in the Bible the Lord uses people to fulfill His work. The Lord gives power to His people to empower the earth so that He is there alongside with them when His works are implemented.

The outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the disciples in Jerusalem is not far from the Lord’s plan to send them. He includes His disciples or the Church to spread the news of salvation to all sinners. They had to receive the Holy Spirit who gave them power. The Lord had told them to stay in Jerusalem until the time came and on the day of Pentecost, they received the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.

When we see Joel 2:28-29 from an age perspective, there are two groups: young and old. God will use the young generation to do His works. The role of young people as the next generation is very strategic. The young generation will do their part in their time. They must also prepare the generation that comes after them to do the same. They will do this with the Holy Spirit’s guidance over their lives. At this time during the greatest time of harvest, the role of young people is important. Young people must be the spearhead to spread the gospel. Don’t let the young generation drown in the technology that’s advancing without a clear purpose. Technology should be used to accelerate the Great Commission of Jesus.

Why young people? Young people who are trained and anointed can easily reach out to other young people. We need young people who can bring the news of salvation to their generation with a language that can be understood.

Second, it is because young people have a high level of excitement. Young people are a group of people who have such passion and drive to reach for something. The old are the ones that dream of revival, the young people are the ones who have the passion to bring it to life.

Third, young people are highly idealistic. They have great potential. When young people are in the wrong hands, they will become scary. On the other hand, when they are mentored well and are anointed by the Holy Spirit, they will be effective tools in the Lord’s hands. They are idealistic and will try to make it happen.

The young generation is the determinant. Losing the young generation means losing the victory from what is to come. Having a reliable generation means having hope for the future. God will use them mightily. Amen. God bless.
