Don’t Give Up

2 Corinthians 4:8:” We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair.”

There’s a saying that says, “those who fail always look for excuses, but those who succeed always look for ways.” This can interpreted as that successful people would never give up. When they are at a dead end, they will look for other ways to reach their destination. On the other hand, those who are at the right place and time but easily give up when they are faced with problems and challenges, they will never succeed.

Joshua is someone who was appointed by the Lord to seize Canaan. Even though he saw the people of Canaan are like giants, he was not discouraged. The Lord knew the challenges Joshua would face when he led the Israelites to Canaan. Therefore, the Lord said to Joshua, “Be strong and of good courage, for to this people you shall divide as an inheritance the land which I swore to their fathers to give them. Only be strong and very courageous…” (Joshua 1:6-7a). The words be strong and courageous are repeated twice in these verses. This means the Lord does not want Joshua to give up and stop before bringing the Israelites enter the land of Canaan.

Maybe there are those among us who are on the verge of giving up because of the problems and pressures of life. There are poeple who almost leave the Lord because of disappointments, those who no longer believe in the Lord’s promises, those who do not have the excitement to strive, or those who go through this life with a weak body, soul and spirit. Let us arise and continue to walk with God. He will surely show the best way for His children who want to keep trying without giving up. The Word of God in 1 Corinthians 10:13 says, “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.”

Let us fully trust on the Lord who will support, help and give us strength so we can reach the dreams and visions He has put in our lives. Being discouraged and giving up are words that bring failure; but being excited and not giving up are words that bring success. Keep being excited. God bless.
