Diligent In God

Romans 12:11 “not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord”.

At the end of this era in which the Holy Spirit was poured out amazingly and even more amazing toward the second coming of the Lord Jesus’, we need God’s children who can move quickly following the move of the Holy Spirit. To be able to move quickly to follow the Holy Spirit, we cannot relax and live in the comfort zone. We must be people who are diligent and more diligent in doing our duty and responsibility as children of God.

Diligent that God wants covers all aspects of our lives. First we must be diligent in carrying out our functions in accordance with our respective function in the center of our families. A husband should be diligent and industrious to earn a living, guiding his wife and children to do what is right in God’s eyes. A wife should be diligent in taking care of the household, taking care of her husband and her children. A child must be studious and diligent in doing good habits that are taught by his/her parents. If God put us in the workplace or business, we must be diligent in working or doing business that God has entrusted to us.

Diligent is no less important is diligent in serving the Lord. The Word of God in Isaiah 54:2-4 says “… Enlarge the place of your tent, and let them stretch out the curtains of your dwellings;
Do not spare … “. Tent here can also be interpreted as our bodies or ourselves. God wants us to be stretched or pulled beyond the existing capacity and do not save. Stretching requires great willpower, craft and diligence that could result in a greater capacity.

There may be some of us who have long struggled with financial problems, health and other issues and have prayed even fasted but those problems have not resolved. Perhaps the key to the answer of the problem is we need to be more diligent in doing all that God has entrusted whether in personal life or in ministries and do not save or just take responsibility for the sake of it or do the minimum.

There is a saying that “Diligent is the base for rich”. This could mean that if we are diligent, the blessing of the Lord will be with us. So if we are diligent, not just another person being blessed because of our diligent but ourselves too shall receive the blessing.

Let us increase our diligence and be on guard so our diligence does not slack and our spirits remain fiery.  God bless you.
