A STRONG FAITH

John 20:27: – “ Then He said to Thomas, “Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here and put it into My side. Do not be unbelieving but believing”.

In the journey of our Christian life, everyone will experience trials after trials so one can grow and achieve spiritual maturity.  Thomas, one of 12 disciples, experienced skepticism and had doubts, which was proven by the words of the Lord Jesus to Thomas: “Stop doubting again and believe”.  The word “again” in this verse shows that Thomas once believed in Jesus, but later became skeptical.  As a disciple, Thomas was with the Lord every day, but he needed proof to clear his doubts and to believe again (John 20:25).

In our journey with God, we often experience skepticism like Thomas.  We have experienced God’s goodness, received miracles, received his help when we needed it, but we still have doubts and lack faith.

How can we have a firm faith and experience doubts/disbelief? There are several things we must do.

First, we must commit to continuing to believe in Jesus regardless of whatever happens.  Whether God answers or does not answer our prayers or whether there are miracles or no miracles, we still need to believe that He is the source of life and the maker of miracles.  His help will surely come on time and will never be too late. Even if this world is shaking, our faith will not be shaken.

Second, we must have the correct knowledge about Jesus.  We must live by the principles and values of the truth of God’s Word, not based on assumptions.  God must be understood, and His word meditates every day.

Third, we must live our lives according to God’s Word.  It means that we must open our hearts and minds and believe that God’s Word is 100% the truth. Numbers 23:19 says ” God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?”

Finally, we must entrust ourselves completely to God.  Whatever happens in our lives, everything has been put in order and is in God’s plan.  Everything that happens will bring us good (Romans 8:28). Have firm faith and withstand the shakings.  Jesus blesses you.
