I READ: Revelation 3:1-6
The church is Sardis never received any praise from the Lord Jesus because none of the work done was found perfect. The works that were done by this church seemed great but they were done without the power of the Holy Spirit. The people seemed to serve God actively, but in fact, spiritually, they were almost dead because they did not activate the Holy Spirit in their lives. This church was a “powerless” church and did not experience the amazing power of the Holy Spirit. The church was like the 5 foolish virgins in that they did not keep the Holy Spirit’s oil burning. In this parable, when Jesus came for the second time, they were not ready to welcome the groom.
