SINCERITY

I READ: Psalm 97

The meaning of the word sincere is pure in heart, earnest, honest, does not pretend, and unaffected. The one person who knows if someone has a sincere heart is the Lord. People don’t know because insincerity can be concealed with nice facial expressions and words. One’s sincerity can be tested through giving. One who gives with sincerity does not hope for anything in return. But if we are not sincere, our heart will become disappointed if we don’t receive anything in return. Sincerity is also tested when we praise someone. Do we only praise someone to please them? Are our words not coming out of our heart? We also need to be sincere in loving people. Someone who loves sincerely will still be able to love even if the other person does unpleasant and disappointing things.

I DECLARE: Psalm 73:1 – Truly God is good to Israel, to such as are pure in heart.

I DO: What action will I take today after meditating on the Word of God?

I PRAY: Pray as guided by the Holy Spirit.
