LEAVE SIN BEHIND

I READ: Romans 8: 1 – 17

Today we learned that when we believe in Jesus, He will free us from the punishment of sin. And if we fully surrender our lives to the Lord then the Holy Spirit will enable us to live in the Spirit, so we can put to death every fleshly desire that produces sin. There are still children of God who believe in Jesus, but do not want to surrender their lives to the Holy Spirit. They still want to have a sinful nature. They can easily tolerate sin. And they do not have the desire to repent from their sins. They think that God’s grace is great for them, so that the Lord will have no choice but to forgive them. They play around with God’s grace in their life. Jesus has died on the cross for us to redeem our sins. Jesus did not see sin as something insignificant and unimportant, but He died to defeat sin. If we, as His children continue to play around with sin that means we do not appreciate His redeeming work on the cross. The Lord reminds us to believe in Jesus and also fully surrender our lives to the Holy Spirit’s guidance.

I DECLARE: Romans 8: 13: For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

I DO: If I still have sinful nature in my life today, I will repent and ask the Holy Spirit to enable me to put to death all of my fleshly desires. I will remember God’s grace because that will bring me to repentance.

I PRAY: I will pray for the people I know who are experiencing difficult problems in their life.
