Daily Verses: Judges 6 : 22-24, Ephesians 2 : 14-17
Key Verses : Judges 6 : 24 : So Gideon built an altar there to the LORD, and called it The-LORD-Is-Peace. To this day it is still in Ophrah of the Abiezrites.
Today we are learning about the Lord’s fourth name, which is Jehovah Shalom. He is our God of peace. From the story we read above, during the time of judges, the nation of Israel experienced pressure from the Midianites. And when they couldn’t take it any longer, they cried out to the Lord and asked to be delivered from their enemies. At that time, the Lord chose Gideon to be a judge over the nation of Israel and to battle against the Midianites. Gideon was so afraid of the Lord’s command, but praise the Lord! He did not leave Gideon to drown in his own fears, but gave him a promise that He is the Lord of Salvation for Gideon, He is the Lord that brings peace to Gideon. God’s promise strengthened Gideon’s heart, so that he was able to go and fight the Midianites and defeat them. That way the nation of Israel experienced peace during the course of Gideon’s reign. Likewise for us today, the Lord will also give us freedom from any of our fears or worries and give us victory and peace. If we believe in Jesus then there will be abundant peace in our life, Ephesians 2:14.
Eventhough we walk in the midst of a storm, His peace will equip us to victoriously pass through that storm.
