There is no evangelism that starts without a prayer. Therefore, to pray for souls, we need to have compassion for them. Today we learn from Jesus Himself how He evangelized to souls with great compassion. This was a posture of His heart that always moved Him in His ministry and never asked something in return. He really loves souls and long for them to believe in Him and be saved. It is also the same with us as His children. We need to ask for the Holy Spirit to give us compassion for souls because we cannot get it on our own. That compassion will enable us to pray and testify about Jesus to other people.
