1 Corinthians 13:4-7: ”Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”
An indicator is a measurement used to see if we have accomplished something. Indicators can vary, depending on our target. For example, whether or not we have experienced increase, have adequate income, or reached a certain level according to our targets and etc. An indicator can also be a reference to see if we are on the right track.
Christianity speaks about love. If the Bible is pressed, love will come out as the extract. The basic foundation of Christianity is love and the forms of love we are required to have is far greater than simply loving our closest ones. What degree of love should we have? The Lord Jesus says, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another” (John 13:34). This is a high degree of love. We know that the Lord Jesus not only healed many people and performed many miracles, but with the love He had, He was willing to experience suffering and pain until He died on the cross.
We must have Christ’ love, a degree of love that is far greater than our knowledge of love we know daily. With this kind of love, there are many aspects other than just declaring love; there are sacrifice, willingness to suffer and the ability to forgive.
What kinds of love indicator tell us whether or not we are walking in love? The Bible has summarized indicators of love in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 that love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
By having these indicators, we will easily detect if Christ’ love is present within our hearts. God bless.
