Understanding God’s Will

Colossians 1 : 9 : “For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding.

It is very important for us who live in the end times, approaching the Lord Jesus’ second coming, to understand His will. In the verse above, Apostle Paul does not cease to pray for the church in Colosse so they may know the Lord’s will perfectly and do it. At that time, false teachers have entered the church (Colossians 2:8). Ephesians 5:17 writes that a foolish person is someone who does not understand the Lord’s will. We will also experience loss when we do not understand His will.

There is no shortcut to understand the Lord’s will. We have to seek it through reading the Bible daily, praying, hearing sermons at church every week, and our personal testimony. Through these things, we will have a deeper knowledge and understanding on who our God is, what the Lord wants us to do in our lives and what kind of assurance the Lord gives us when we follow His will.

David was someone who understood the Lord’s will and did it exactly as what the Lord wanted. Acts 13:22: “And when He had removed him, He raised up for them David as king, to whom also He gave testimony and said, ‘I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who will do all My will.” When David understood the Lord’s will and was obedient in doing it, he did not stumble and the Lord was very pleased because David did His will throughout his life.

When we understand the Lord’s will and do it, we will be trusted with His kingdom and be made to become the head and not the tail. We will be like David – be people after God’s own heart in these times. Blessed be the name of the Lord Jesus. God bless us all.
