“THE YEAR OF PEY – 5780”

From September 29, 2019 – September 18, 2020, the Hebrew Calendar enters the year 5780, which is called the year of Pey (80). Now we are entering a new decade called the Pey’ (80) decade. Peyis not merely about entering a new year or a new decade, in fact, it is a new era in history. Peydecade is the beginning of a new season for the church of God.

‘Pey’ is depicted as a Mouth. There are two things we need to note about the mouth. “The Sovereign Lord has given me a well-instructed tongue, to know the word that sustains the weary.” (Isaiah 50:4a, NIV). Remember beloved, our words are to sustain or encourage the weary, not vice versa! If the words make those who are high-spirited to be weary, that’s not the words of a disciple! “Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.” (Ephesians 4:29, NKJV). Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. “And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.” (Ephesians 4:32, NKJV). The second thing we need to note about the mouth is we need to often declare words of freedom and victory. We must also pray, praise and worship often.

Beloved, be careful with our mouths. Idle words, slander, gossip, corrupt word, lie, hoax, hatred; lest we speak those things for we have to give account for it on the day of judgment. For by our words we will be justified, and by our words, we will be condemned! (Matthew 12:36-37).

The word ‘Pey’ is connected with the word ‘PENIEL’. In Genesis 32:30 “So Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: “For I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.” One day Jacob wrestled with a man on one occasion. The man was an angel of the Lord and Jacob prevailed! His name was changed into Israel. He is an overcomer because he struggled with God and with men, and he prevailed! Jacob called the place ‘Peniel’. He said, “For I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.” Beloved, as we enter into ‘Pey’ decade, God wants us to see Him face to face regularly. Because if we meet face to face with God, there will be no malicious words or words of hatred from our mouth. When we meet God face to face, we will listen to what He says and that’s what will come out of our mouths.

Maybe there are some of you who find yourselves in the crossroad like Jacob. He worked, worked, and worked so hard. But Jacob decided to return to the father’s home, and therefore he becomes an overcomer! If you want to be an overcomer, if your condition is like Jacob who had worked so hard, you must make a decision to return to the Father’s house. This means seeking first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and everything and whatever you need will be added on to you.

Lastly, in the year of ‘Pey’ we need to finish the Great Commission of Jesus Christ. Out of our mouth, we preach the good news, we evangelize. Wherever you are, preach the good news! Make disciples of Christ. The Third Pentecost has been poured out, and it will enable you do such things. The time is short and it’s time to finish the Great Commission of Jesus Christ. Amen!
