The Role of the Holy Spirit in Our Lives

“For John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” Acts 1:4-5

Before His ascension, Jesus had told His disciples to remain in Jerusalem, to not do any other activity until the Holy Spirit is poured out upon them. Why? It is because the Holy Spirit is the most important helper in their next journey after Jesus’ departure.

What is the role of the Holy Spirit in the disciples’ lives at that time and also in the rest of the believers’ lives? First, He puts God’s vision within us – the destiny the Lord had placed in the journey of our lives. The Holy Spirit will also help us reach that vision/destiny. Our part is to surrender our lives fully to the Holy Spirit. Jesus said to His disciples in John 16 that if the Holy Spirit comes, who is the Spirit of Truth, He will guide them in all truth.

To reach the vision/destiny of our lives, the Holy Spirit will direct us step by step. God has a detailed plan of His vision so that everything is done perfectly. Just as He guided Bezalel in every detail of the Tabernacle, He will also guide us from time to time, from situation to situation. We are the Bezalels of this time, and as Apostle Paul had said, Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?” 1 Corinthians 3:16. We must increase our sensitivity to understand the Holy Spirit’s guidance and direction as we build our spiritual tabernacle.

From then, we begin our Christian life with the Holy Spirit’s guidance. His guidance will become like the pillars of cloud and fire that led the Israelites’ journey in the desert. We only need put on our spiritual sense in order to catch on the instructions from the Holy Spirit.

These days, ask the Holy Spirit to always fill our lives. Like Jesus’ disciples who were filled with the Spirit until they fulfilled all of the Father’s works, we are also going to fulfill the Father’s works in these end times with the help of the Holy Spirit. Amen. God bless.
