Focused Eyes

Proverbs 4 : 25-27 : “Let your eyes look straight ahead, and your eyelids look right before you. Ponder the path of your feet, and let all your ways be established. Do not turn to the right or the left.”

Someone who competes in a race will not win if he/she is too busy turning to the right and left. A shifted or weak focus that keeps changing direction can make us fail. The same goes for the race to victory in the Kingdom of God.

Therefore, we must learn how to keep our focus and faith only to Jesus. For those who believe in Jesus Christ, we are in a race of faith. The Lord is seeking for a strong faith, one that is unshakeable in the midst of the current shakings and spiritual warfare. In this race of faith, we are directing our focus on Jesus and surrendering fully to His will in overcoming trials and troubles, so that at the end, we can experience victory and fullness of joy. This race is a test of faith throughout our lives in this world; we need to go through it diligently and patiently. We must let go of the sins that hinder our focus, and direct our eyes, life and heart to Jesus.

Learn from Apostle Paul. Though he was faced with various challenges, he continued to direct his focus to the heavenly calling because he knew there is a great reward God has prepared for those who are faithful until the end. This is the promise of God we must hold on to as believers. The wrong focus will direct us to the wrong direction and we won’t be able to reach the Lord’s will in our lives. Today, let us reassure whether or not we are on the right path with our eyes focused on Christ. No matter how difficult our problems may be or how bad our past may be, do not look back. Look forward because Jesus Himself said: No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God (Luke 9:62)

Let us do this race with our eyes focused on Christ and seize the crown that is already prepared for us. Blessed is the name of the Lord.
