TRAINED IN BATTLES

Daily Reading: 1 Samuel 17:40-54.

Key Verse: Ephesians 6:12: For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Before becoming the king of Israel, David was a shepherd. When he was a shepherd he fought against lions who tried to attack his sheep. David realized that his strength to do so came from the Lord. His experience in knowing that God is with him, made him not afraid when fighting against Goliath. He believe that when he does his part, which was slinging the stone to Goliath, God will do His part. Through his life experience, David became a king who was trained in battles. As God’s children, we have to be soldiers of God who are well trained to battle. In order for us to be well trained, we need to often practice in fighting against the devil and his followers. To fight against the power of darkness, we need to use the Lord’s power. In addition, we can only be victorious if we are submissive to God according to James 4:7, which says, ”Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” The spiritual warfare will become greater as the second coming gets closer. This is an even more compelling reason for us to train ourselves so we can be victorious in the battle against the devil and his followers.

Believe that God is with us and we will be more than conquerors.
