THE BURIED PAST

Daily Verses : 1 Corinthians 15 : 1-11, Philippians 3 : 13-14

Key Verse : 1 Corinthians 15 : 4 : and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.

Why did Jesus die on the 3rd day? It is because the number 3 symbolizes completeness. The work of His sacrifice is perfect for us. When Jesus was about to surrender His life into the Father’s hand, He shouted “it is finished.” In the Greek language, it also means “it is finished with completeness.” In addition, the number 3 also symbolizes the division of time in our life — our past, our current state, and our future. What is the meaning of this? The meaning is through His death for 3 days and afterwards His resurrection, Jesus has given us the victory over our past, our current state, and our future. The devil knows our weaknesses and will try to use the failures from our past to trap and make us suffer. One of the devil’s most effective weapon to defeat us is by using our past. Whatever mistakes we made in the past, God has already forgiven and forgotten them. The more amazing things is that God has borne all of our mistakes and failures in the past and have changed them with a future that is full of hope. So what do we need to do? We need to keep on walking forward without looking back at our past.

If the devil is haunting us with our past, remind the devil that the cross also exist in our past and the devil has been defeated!
