I READ: Philippians 2:5-11
Someone who is poor in spirit sees him/herself having nothing. This is the type of attitude that is pleasing to the Lord. This type of person knows that whatever he/she has (i.e. knowledge, position, successes, talents, and blessings) is because of God’s grace and mercy. Only God can give us success, so therefore there is nothing to boast. Someone who is poor in spirit is a person who is humble and relies fully on the Lord. A humble person accepts whatever happens in his/her life without complaining. Instead he/she gives thanks no matter how big or small the blessing is. Someone like this pleases the Lord and He will definitely answer his/her prayers. God will even give him/her the Kingdom of God.
I DECLARE: Matthew 5:3 – Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
